I believe one of our greatest challenges in life is to keep ourselves persuaded of who we are and what we have in Jesus. In these few verses the Apostle Paul gives us a warning...beware of philosophy, vain deceit, traditions of men and the elements of this world. This world system is governed by performance, by a move to prove attitude, that as long as you are performing or doing, you will not see results. Now don't misunderstand me, we need to be doing but the doing must come from an understanding that we are loved, accepted and provided for because of who Jesus is and what He has done. The verses here go on to say that the fullness of the Godhead is in Jesus and that you and I are in Him, complete, lacking nothing. Let's not be tempted into believing that God is withholding anything but rather believe the truth of His Word. Let's rather be persuaded of the truth of the Spirit world and not this carnal world. Let's rather be governed by His Word than our natural senses. You and I are complete in Him, filled to the brim, there's no room to add anything else. |
