NKJ 1Jo 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
1Jo 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

God’s love for us should be our only source of an abiding sense of self worth. His love for us demonstrates our tremendous value and worth to Him. His love has revealed that He became our sin, took all our punishment, obtained our righteousness, and then gave it to us as a free gift. Jesus has satisfied God’s anger and fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the law so that we could be free from a sense of judgment, guilt, shame and low self worth. It would be foolishness for us to reject all that Jesus has accomplished for us and try and obtain our own sense of worth through our own righteousness. We can never look to our own performance for our worth, when we do, we are rejecting the free gift that Jesus worked and suffered for. Jesus’ actions reveal our worth and value to God and that love, that price paid, should be our only source of self worth.
